Sherdil, 2019 Feature Film - Aviation VFX
IndependentVFX produced 17 minutes of visual effects content for the 2019 Pakistani feature film Sherdil. The script called for very specific dogfight sequences between Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunders and Indian Air Force Mirage 2000s. There would be no real world cooperation between the two air forces with the tensions between the countries on a constant knife-edge. CGI aircraft would provide the solution to this problem as well as many others. Certain sequences would be far too dangerous to attempt with real aircraft. In addition to this evolving weather conditions, times of day, changing landscapes and aircraft flying with dissimilar ordnance loads would create problems for continuity. Going the CGI route would solve all of this as well as giving the dogfights a 'larger than life' quality that the film required.
